I frequently suggest to students that are beginning songwriting that they start by analyzing some of their favorite songs to see what’s going on beneath the hood. This video is a demo to explain some of the things I’m thinking about when I’m analyzing songs – hopefully, it’ll inspire you to pull up lyrics from your favorite songs and take a closer look! There is always lots to be learned.
